Tidal Wave

The tidal wave,
I saw it coming, stretched out my arms,
To shield you,
But I could not reach
You
Were beyond my fingertips.

Distress flares blazed,
My warnings, my pleadings,
To save you,
From the darkness that was coming,
It
Threatened all we had.

But the tidal wave neared
Closer
And closer.
I threw myself in front of you
In vain...
You are lost
And so am I
Drowning
Eternally.
