Ground To Sky

Ground covered in leaves,
my feet cooled by the breeze,
perching on the entry to cold patio doors,
open to the unkempt garden, farway shores
call me

Why him, not me, my mind struggles to go on,
emptiness reigns where once the sun shone,
left behind, I make no sense, the eyes are filling
but I have no right, and this could be killing
me

It is getting colder and darker but perching still, I remain,
rainclouds gather and unleash, ready to wash away the stain
that cowers below; let there be thunder and lightning,
let it rage and consume me, my eyes look to the frightening
sky.
